Three Inspiring Projects From Three Inspiring Designers

Whether you are a Minnesota native, a movie buff or a lover of history, I’ve got an inspiring project for you to check out.

Three of the more recent blogs I’ve been following are some interesting ventures that three individuals in the design world have set out to do. They are inspiring in both the creative sense, and just in what one person can accomplish.

Branding 10,000 Lakes

Branding 10,000 Lakes by Nicole Meyer
Nicole Meyer as set out to do what some would assume impossible: brand each and every lake in Minnesota. One lake a day, every day, for over 27 years. So far she is 88 lakes in, and I am still impressed by the detail, the creativity, and the variety she has shown. You can visit the collection at branding10000lakes.com, or follow the Branding 10,000 Lakes twitter. Below are a few of my favorites:

Andrusia Lake Beaver Lake White Elk Lake Fall Lake

FAUXGO
FAUXGO by Tymn Armstrong
Tymn’s blog FAUXGO (fake logo) is the definition of simple genius. His blog features a variety of fictional logos that have been featured in movies and television. After hearing about his concept, I had a “why didn’t I think of that!” moment. It has been very interesting and entertaining to see which fictional brands from my favorite movies make it into his collection each day. You can see the collection at fauxgo.com, or follow the FAUXGO twitter. Below are a few logos he has featured that certainly struck a cord with me:

Callahan Zorg Industries GNB

Momentus ProjectMomentus by Evan Stremke

Evan Stremke was peer of mine back in design school at the University of Minnesota. He has since gone on to be a designer in Madison, and continues to impress. Momentus is is collection of visual representations of moments in US history that Evan organized with a list of events and designers to contribute. With the only limitation being color, Evan let each designer do their thing, resulting in a very unique and beautiful representation of US history. You can see the whole collection at momentusproject.com, or follow along with the #MomentusProject tag on twitter. Below are a few of my favorites:
