The holiday season is a time of celebration. We merrily celebrate family, friends, food and – in the case of the Minneapolis advertising community – the year’s cheekiest British commercials. For the 30th year, our very own Walker Art Center will once again hold a series of sell-out screenings to showcase the award-winning work from the British Arrow Awards, a celebration of the very best creative work from across the pond.
It’s a great chance to laugh, admire and be inspired. So, without further ado, I give you one man’s opinion of the top five spots from years past. Enjoy the show.
#5 – Honda, Civic Type R, The Other Side
A parallel story line, offering very different but mirrored visuals, that allowed users to “drive” by toggling back and forth between the two with the stroke of an ‘R’ key.
#4 – Cadbury, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Gorilla
“I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord.”
#3 – John West Salmon, Salmon, Bear
Because canned salmon should only be considered funny.
#2 – Guinness, St. Patrick’s Day, Sheep Dog
Brilliant!
#1 – Unilever, Marmite, Rescue
The only reason I know what Marmite is.
