Last week I joined a handful of colleagues on a visit to one of the nearby apple orchards that grow our adored SweeTango apples. Pine Tree Apple Orchard is nestled in the woods of White Bear Lake and boasts an gorgeous view of the St. Paul skyline.

A bumpy tractor ride delivered us to the SweeTango grove, where we sampled a few not-quite-ripe but deliciously sour apples and fussed over our social media star, Adelaide. I couldn’t resist creating an illustration of her, because she really is adorable. She was the largest and most colorful apple, which really means her flower was pollinated earlier than the others.

For this illustration I used a Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator, sticking to a pared down color palette to highlight the fresh greens and reds. Enjoy!
