Don’t tell my husband, but I’m in love with another man. He’s witty and worldly. His kind and his giant eyes perched on top of his little green body make you want to squeeze him to death.

Yes, its Kermit and I’m not ashamed to admit that since I was a little girl, I’ve had a crush on this funny little frog. 

It started on a cross-country trip from California to Kansas. With my brother in the backseat of my dad’s station wagon void of air conditioning and children’s musings, the two of us were introduced to The Muppet Show on tape. It was my Dad’s attempt to get us through the long drive and boy did he hit a home run. Over the next 36 hours, we must of played that tape a hundred times memorizing all the songs and performances. I was smitten and the object of my affection was a little green guy with a funny little voice that captured my attention and my heart.

Throughout the years, my feelings have never waned. They intensified and I watched every rerun, every movie, purchased any tape or DVD available. To this day, “Mahna Mahna” can put a smile on my face in an instant. And to say I’m excited about the release of a new Muppet Movie starring my favorite frogs is a blatant understatement. I’ve watched every trailer (genius!), read every article and I even dressed my little one up as Kermit for Halloween in hopes that one day she too will fall for the frog. With 22 days left until the movie opens, I’d like to leave you with some of my favorite Muppet Moments. Here’s to a resurgence of Muppet Madness. In the Checco household, it never left.
