2017 British Arrow Awards

February 8, 2018

This year, for the first time ever, I attended the British Arrow Awards at the Walker Art Center. They were put on in two theaters over the month of December. Going in, I knew that it was going to be a collection of videos, but I had no idea the format or the amount of advertising I would be seeing. All the ads covered an array of topics, styles, and humor. They were separated into Bronze, Silver, and Gold with a final commercial of the year being named. I picked my favorite from each category below.

Phenomenal Women
Sport England, This Girl Can for FCB Inferno by Somesuch, directed by Kim Gehrig

I absolutely adore the feel of this. Gritty, fun, passionate, colorful, happy, inspiring.

Harry and Ahmed
Unicef for 180 Amsterdam by Smuggler, directed by Joshua Neale

Truly impactful.

MailChimp, Did you mean MailChimp? for Droga5 NY by Riff Raff Films and The Directors Bureau, directed by The Sacred Egg

I knew nothing of this campaign before going in and honestly didn’t get that kalelilmp = MailChimp until I said it out loud, but lordy do I love a company with too much money doing something fun and nonsensical. Also, I love kale and I love dogs.

Come Together
