Gilmore Girls Revives My Soul

On the day the “Gilmore Girls” revival was announced, I received a mere three texts, four emails, and a post on my Facebook wall about the exciting news. I’ve watched the whole series an unspeakable number of times, and I’m sure my neighbors are tired of hearing me belt the theme song at the top of my lungs. I have dreamt about this day, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would ever come. Never. Ever. Ever.

So for all of the other GG fans out there, I have broken down what we know and what we don’t. Please hold your applause until the end.

“Gilmore Girls” ended in 2007 and had some producer turmoil during its last season, but that didn’t deter the most committed fans from tuning in. Amy Sherman-Palladino (producer for seasons one through six) did not produce the seventh season, but she is coming back for the revival. She stated that even though she hasn’t seen the seventh season, people have filled her in on what she missed, and that her original storyline was not disturbed.

The name: “Netflix Original: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” The synopsis: Three generations of Gilmore Girl women grapple with change and the complicated bonds of family during one year in Stars Hollow. The content: Four 90-minutes episodes, titled “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer” and “Fall.”

One member who will not be returning is Richard Gilmore. Richard was the patriarch husband, father, and grandfather to the Gilmore Girls, but will not be returning, as actor Edward Sherman passed in 2014. It is said that the subject of his passing will be confronted during the revival. It’s also speculated the first episode will be “Winter,” where the subject of his passing will be discussed.

One other important detail has been revealed: There will be a wedding. A picture of a prop on the set was released earlier this year of a lamp labeled “wedding” attached to it. Will it finally be Luke and Lorelai? Rory and Dean? Rory and Logan? Rory and Jess? Rory and some other guy?

It is rumored that the revival will be released in November, but Palladino would like to release all four episodes separately, contrary to Netflix’s previous series releases. All in all, whatever the revival has in store, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.
