5 Things Content Marketers Can Learn From William Shatner — Or Something Like That

October 24, 2011

Here I sit, late on Friday, having not yet written my assigned Idea Peepshow post for Monday. It’s been a crazy day, but you don’t need to hear my excuses. The point is, I got nothin’ left. I’m spent. Deploying the Writer’s Block Dolphin Hawk crossed my mind.

But wait. What’s this? Is that… is that real? William Shatner singing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”? Well, not singing, really. Shatner doesn’t sing. And he’s not scatting. He’s Shatting, I suppose.

This must be shared with the world. As if the music doesn’t merit enough attention, the video is a damn gem. Watch it and then try to honestly tell me you aren’t moved, deep down inside.

To be fair, I did spend a few minutes (OK, seconds) thinking about how I could spin this into a marketing-type post, for fear of doing a disservice to my colleagues and our readers. “5 Things Content Marketers Can Learn From William Shatner” or something like that. But that would just be a disservice to The Shatner and his art.

So I’m letting it stand, on its own. Soak it up. And if you really enjoy it, buy the album. It also includes Shatner’s versions of “She Blinded Me With Science,” “Spirit in the Sky” and — wait for it — “Iron Man.”
