I’ve never really been a big fan of arts and theater. Sports have always been my thing.
But if you haven’t already done so, I highly recommend seeing Cirque Du Soleil’s “Ovo.” It’s showing in Minneapolis by the Mall of America through June 19 before heading to Chicago.
I attended on Saturday and was completely blown away not only by the extreme talent the actors displayed, but also by the show’s ability to captivate me from beginning to end.
These actors have some serious athletic abilities that immediately tossed aside all my doubts as I was instantly left awestruck from one act to another.
Cirque Du Soleil is a theatrical mix of circus arts and street entertainment. More specifically, “Ovo” is “an immersion into the teeming and energetic world of insects.”
The costumes were incredibly eye-catching, fun and distinct. The set did a fantastic job of creating a feeling of transformation from one world to another. Set designer Gringo Cardia says, “I wanted people inside the Big Top to see the world through the eyes of insects, and to accomplish that I played with scale.”
The show has received rave reviews from many critics. The New York Post says the show features “such stupendous feats of physical grace and athleticism that (will) leave you gasping.”
Ticket prices to “Ovo” are affordable. To me, it seems as though there are no bad seats in the house. I feel the show is appropriate for all ages and I promise it to be entertaining in one way or another, no matter what your interests. It’s something fun and different to do and is perfect for all occasions. I highly recommend everyone to catch “Ovo” while you can!
