Last weekend, we helped kick off the second year of Coca-Cola Family Track Walks, a series of five events in which NASCAR fans and their families are invited to get out and get active on race weekend by taking a walk in a very unique location: on the very racing surface of some of the most famous racetracks on the Sprint Cup surface.
To sweeten the offer, members of the Coca-Cola Racing Family join the festivities for fan Q&As and to provide some inspiration to enjoy some active family fun.
Last year’s program allowed fans to hoof it at Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richmond International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway.
This year’s kickoff took place at Auto Club Speedway in not-so-sunny Fontana, Calif., with drivers Jeff Burton, Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip. Next stop will be Talladega Superspeedway (no, Ricky Bobby will not make an appearance), followed by Charlotte, Michigan International Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.
Check out some pics from Fontana – despite a steady, heavy drizzle, fans came out in droves. The official estimate was 3,000 attendees on a chilly (for SoCal), overcast morning. It was an exciting morning, and we’re looking forward to the next four stops on the schedule.
