Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a Coke Zero ad shoot at Michigan International Speedway. The three spots, which will debut during the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona, feature Coca-Cola Racing Family drivers Jeff Burton, Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer. The pretty monumental task of shooting three ads in one evening/night was pulled off by Crispin Porter Bogusky, and judging by what I witnessed, the finished spots should be pretty entertaining.
Thought I’d share a couple of video clips from the Clint Bowyer spot. In the first, the crew is filming close-ups of Clint inside the car; the second shows a pit stop dry run that figures heavily into the ad. Actors were hired to play pit crew members, but if you didn’t know it, you’d think they were actual crew guys.
Whether you’re a NASCAR fan or not, I recommend tuning into the July 3 race on TNT to check out the unique way they’ll bring these ads to life. Think it’ll be pretty cool…
