When Superstars Falter (or why a private beta is never bad)

I like Gwyneth Paltrow – not in a crazy, stalker-ish, “I have a child named Apple, too” way. But, she’s got a cool husband who avoids the tabloids, she has a hip fashion sense and she appears to live a pretty laid back life.

So when I saw her new lifestyle site panned across varying celeb and entertainment sites, I felt a little prickly in her defense.

Prepared to forgive her for the horribly named GOOP, I ventured to goop.com to check out her wisdom and wax poetic with her about macrobiotic diets.

Sadly, GOOP falls in my least favorite category: a site that offers little to no information, doesn’t entice me to want to learn more and generally annoys me that I’ve wasted time clicking on the link.

Basically, the site features a “welcome” letter  where Gwyneth sounds slightly smug and superior and then a sign-up for more information. I’ll pass.

Oh, and Gwyn? To borrow a line from you, perhaps YOU need to remember: “Don’t be lazy. Workout and stick with it. GOOP. Make it great.”

I’ll check back when you “make it great.”
