The one good thing that I was able to take away from the snowstorm was an introduction to the amazingly well-groomed MnDOT traffic Twitter account. Labeled as the ‘official Mn/DOT Twitter feed for Minneapolis/St. Paul traffic accidents,’ accidents are posted to the account in virtually real-time, and even more impressive, tweets are actually removed when the accident is cleared.

TEDxTC: A hell of a lot smarter, without the $6,000 fee

I had the opportunity to attend another inspiring TEDxTC event Wednesday at the Science Museum of Minnesota. If you’re unfamiliar, TED is a small nonprofit devoted to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading,’ and what started out as an annual conference bringing together people from the three worlds of technology, entertainment and design has since exploded in popularity. Speakers at past conferences have included Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell and Bill Gates.
