What Else Is There To Say, Other Than ‘Thank You’?January 12, 2016

As a sensitive white male with access to a blog, I have heard the call of the Internet over the past couple of days. The roar of the crowd of loyal Peepshow readers has reached a fever pitch. “Alex,” you call, “we’re beside ourselves with anticipation. We simply must hear your social-media-ready thoughts on David Bowie’s death.”
Fear not, readers. I have dug deep and polished my witty asides. This will surely be the eulogy that gets the most shares on Facebook. My thoughts on David Bowie are …
… intensely personal! And not ready to be shared. David Bowie meant a lot to me, and to a lot of my friends, and to millions of people around the world. I actually wrote a very dour 650 words about it, but I don’t think that’s the note I should hit when it comes to an artist who has given me boundless joys, deep self-improvement and an undying drive to explore.
I’m very sad that I’ll never get another Bowie record to devour. I’m very sad that I’ll never see him perform. I am incredibly happy to have discovered and rediscovered and endlessly excavated an artist who keeps surprising me and rewarding me and connecting me to other people who share the same passion. I can’t express it enough: Thank you, David.
Saying goodbye to David Jones, the person, has been unbelievably sad. Thankfully, he left us something incredible: David Bowie — the concept, the idea, the inspiration. He’ll live forever, and he’ll always push us to discover new worlds. It ain’t over.
Anyway, here are a few Bowie jams that have, in small ways and big, made the world a place worth being. There are more, but that’s up to you — what are your favorites?
